Chatlore keeps your chats on your phone. We, Workaholic Developers, never receive them. This page says exactly what that means.
What Chatlore collects
Nothing. Chatlore has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting service. The app has no internet connection of its own: on Android it does not even ask for internet permission. We cannot see your chats, photos, voice notes, names or numbers, and nothing about how you use the app is sent to us.
Where your chats are kept
- When you export a chat and pick Chatlore, the file is copied into Chatlore’s own storage on your phone and read there.
- Messages, photos, voice notes and the search index stay in that storage. On iPhone it is protected by the phone’s data protection.
- If your phone makes its normal backups (iCloud or Android backup), Chatlore’s data can be part of them, under your account with Apple or Google. On Android, only the text of your chats is included, not photos.
- A backup file is made only when you tap Save a backup file, and saved where you choose.
- Deleting a chat, or using Delete everything, removes it from Chatlore. Your chat app is never changed.
Things Chatlore does only when you ask
- Share a message, picture or memory book: it goes only where you send it.
- Show words for a voice note: speech recognition runs on the phone (iPhone asks for your permission first). Chatlore asks for on-device recognition only.
- Add to calendar / Add to contacts / Save image: Chatlore opens the phone’s own screen for that one item. It never reads your calendar, contacts or photo library.
- Lock: Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint is checked by the phone. Chatlore only learns whether it worked.
- Morning reminder (off by default): a notification on days with memories. It is scheduled on the phone and never shows message text.
- Widgets: home-screen widgets show a memory from your chats on your own phone. With the lock on, they show no words, names or photos.
- Links in your chats, our website and the email button open in your browser or mail app, only when you tap them.
This website
chatlore.wdlab.app has no cookies, no analytics, no trackers and no fonts or scripts from other companies. Our server keeps no access logs. Error logs, which can include an address, are kept for up to 14 days to fix problems.
Children
Chatlore does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete. You control everything in the app: delete one chat, or everything, at any time.
